About

Alina Zollfrank (she, sie) from (former) East Germany writes and dreams trilingually in Bellingham. She believes that artists and writers are humanity’s true pulse, that social media might just kill our essence, and that produce should be shared with neighbors. Her poetry and creative nonfiction celebrate the ingenuity and resilience of ancestors, the fragility of our planet, and the reality of people living with profound physical and mental health care needs. Sometimes, she ventures into political sarcasm and self-deprecation. Her work has been nominated for Best of the Net and appeared in Last Leaves, Thimble, Wordgathering, Feral, Red Ogre Review, Nude Bruce Review, October Hill Magazine, Psaltery & Lyre, Pulse Voices, Alternate Route, Halfway Down the Stairs, Reckon Review, Invisible City, Comstock Review, Orchards Poetry Journal, and others. Her essay “Mein Apfelbaum” will be featured in the 2024 garden anthology by Wild Librarian Press, and her poem “Forces” in the Ecobloomspaces print anthology by Iron Oak Editions. Alina also has proudly, so proudly, co-edited her child’s first YA novel (Nautila by Lilo Mason-Zollfrank). When she’s not busy chasing stubborn rescue beagles through her dense little garden, she supports immigrant families who have children with disabilities and chronic health care needs at Parent to Parent & The Arc of Whatcom County. Alina hopes to help represent those who feel lost, unseen, and hungry for connection and has an empowering children’s book about a child with juvenile arthritis ready to go – it just needs the right publisher!
