About

Alizée Castel is a French-born, Seattle-based illustrator whose work centers on themes of diaspora identity, cultural connection, and storytelling. Her art, rooted in Lebanese and Middle Eastern heritage, has found its way into homes around the world and resonates with families seeking to stay connected to their roots. She has collaborated with a range of cultural and community-focused partners, including Frankie & Jo’s Ice Cream, Yalla Seattle, and comedian Emil Wakim, the first Lebanese American comic to appear on SNL. Her illustrations are often described as joyful and nostalgic.

As a 2025 Artist Trust GAP recipient, Alizée is developing a new children’s collection that includes Arabic alphabet posters, numbers, and playful cultural motifs. The project is designed to support diaspora families in planting seeds of pride and belonging. It offers an image of Lebanon and Palestine centered on beauty, warmth, and joy rather than conflict.
