About

Allyce Wood is an artist based in Seattle, WA. She received her MFA from the Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo in Norway (2018) and furthered her textile studies at the Universitetet i Bergen (2017 & 2018). She received her BFA from Cornish College of Art (2010). Wood has had the honor of being an artist in residence at the Mary Olson Farm in Auburn, Washington (2023), the Praxis Fiber Workshop in Cleveland, Ohio (2021), and the Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós, Iceland (2019).

A collector of threads and technologies, Wood creates work on digital and analog looms, a marudai, and a knitting machine. To her, the loom mediates traditional and computerized technologies, offering a unique way to balance coded systems with human impulses. Her passion for systems and breakable rules stems from a lifelong curiosity of reason and rule-bending.

Wood has exhibited her work for over ten years. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Glimmering Code’ at Gallery 4Culture (2023) and ‘Ribbons and Shirtsleeves’ at the White River Valley Museum. She has also shown artworks in recent group shows such as ‘Soft Power’ at the Tacoma Art Museum (2023), and ‘Mad Finale’ at MadArt (2024). Wood has worked on public art projects with The City of Edmonds, the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, The City of Burien, and The City of Des Moines in Washington state. She is the gracious recipient of grant support through institutions like 4Culture, Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond, Arts Council Norway, Artist Trust, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
