About

Andre Bouchard (of Kootenai/Ojibwe/Kalispel/Bitterroot Salish descent) is a producer, director and storyteller of live shows and documentary films. He was born and raised on the Flathead Reservation. He is the founder/Executive Creative Producer of Indigenous Performance Productions, a nonprofit that seeks to elevate Indigenous storytelling. His work is centered around delivery of timely messages through elegant vehicles: using comedy, horror, documentary film and music to talk about both the challenges that face Indigenous communities as well as our reasons for celebration.

Over his creative career he has worked in the medium of physical theater, site specific happenings and through devised work to talk about subjects such as corporate exploitation of workers, his connection to family and community, racism, colonialism and climate change. As a director and producer he has mounted 47 new works since 1999. He is the recipient of the National Performance Network Creation/Production fund grants for his celebration of Native culture “Welcome to Indian Country”. He currently is co-directing the series “The Aunties” which features storytelling by Native women as well as “The Land Has Spoken – Tales of Indigenous Horror” a live performed radio play set to go on tour this October. “He has a BFA in Dance/BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Montana and a Masters in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon.
