About

Andy Behrle, as a Philosophy and Religion major in college, dreamed about the sublime and set forth on a journey of self-discovery. With sculpture, Andy realized he could create objects and worlds to help him navigate the depths of existential thought and communicate ideas in ways that words couldn’t. Combining his interests in natural phenomena, the spiritual, and the language of objects, Andy earned his MFA from Arizona State University in 2003. After four years in Alabama, he relocated to central Washington in 2012 where he continues to explore ideas of time, space, and our shared physical experience.

Andy received a 2013 GAP to purchase materials for his current project, creating a mobile geodesic dome. The shell of this dome will be created with fabric membrane and used as a screen onto which he will project his experiments with light and water. The visual combination of the organic movement of the water upon the geometric framework of the dome is intended to consider humanity’s impact on natural systems and the interconnectedness of everything.
