About

Anna Teiche is a painter and fiber artist born and raised on Bainbridge Island. Her work focuses on relationships between fabrics, patterns, and identity, manifested both individually and culturally. Mainly working in large-scale oil painting and embroidery, Teiche’s work centers around explorations of figures wrapped in textiles that hold personal value to the sitter, and abstracted through use of vivid color, light, and pattern. In 2018, she received her BFA in Studio Art from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and has since been featured in several group shows and the publications Friend of the Artist and Create! Magazine.

Anna Received 2019 GAP Award funding for a project being undertaken at Budapest Art Residency, in Hungary. While at BARTR, Anna will be conducting interviews and painting portraits of locals and fellow artists, and doing research on local textile practices to further inform her ongoing research into personal and cultural identity.
