Brandon Abood

Brandon Abood received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington in 2008. He has taught Creative Writing at the University of Washington and DigiPen Institute of Technology. He is currently at work on a novel.

Brandon received a 2012 GAP to complete a historical novel set in Soviet Russia that is thematically concerned with the division between the corporeal and the abstract—and also addresses ideas of materialism, eros, and hegemony. Abood’s work is concerned with the ways in which historical fiction can illuminate the concerns of our own moment by displaying the haunted distance between ideologies past and present, a sort of ghostly intervention across time. He is also interested in the ways which narrative, history, and genre interact.
