About
Brian Chin is a Yamaha Artist, international soloist, advocate for social consciousness through music, and the Founding Director of Common Tone Arts, a non-profit organization inspiring positive change through arts education and music. Brian is also an active composer and improviser and performs with the contemporary chamber music ensemble TORCH. He appears regularly with the Seattle Symphony and is the retired Principal Trumpet of the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra. Brian is reimagining higher-education music education as the Chair of the Music Department at Seattle Pacific University. His new-music solo recordings Eventide and Universal Language are available on Origin Classical.
Brian received 2017 GAP Award funding to write LUX, a 30′ multi-movement work intended for dance inspired by the spectrum of light. The innovative ensemble, TORCH, will perform this new score together with a modern dance company.
