About

Carol Gouthro , a dual citizen of Canada and the United States, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She received her BFA with Honors degree with a major in Ceramics from the University Of Manitoba, School Of Art in 1976. Shortly after graduating she moved to Seattle and began working at Pottery Northwest as a studio artist where she remained for 7 years, honing her skills, developing and exhibiting works, until she could afford to set up her own studio. Carol has worked as a practicing studio artist and ceramics instructor for over 35 years. She has an extensive exhibition record of local and national shows and her work has been represented by Francine Seders Gallery, Foster White Gallery, Pacini Lubel Gallery and currently Gallery IMA. Carol has taught ceramics at Kirkland Arts Center and Seward Park Clay Studio for over 30 years and she travels to teach workshops at Universities, Colleges and Art Centers nationally and internationally. In 2019 she taught at La Meridiana Ceramic School in Tuscany and Gaya Ceramic Center in Bali Indonesia. Carol is looking forward to being a presenter at the Virtual 2021 One Thousand Miles Apart Ceramic Conference sponsored by Red Deer College, Alberta, Canada. Carol’s work has been published in many books and periodicals and is included in museum and private collections. When Carol is not working in her studio, or travelling or teaching, she can be found in her West Seattle garden which is a significant source of inspiration to her artistic practice.
