About

Cecelia DeLeon is a visual artist, born and raised in Seattle’s White Center neighborhood. Currently residing in South King County, she creates under the alias “Mousy DeVilla”. She has been an artist for as long as she can remember, often getting in trouble for doodling on her homework in school but has been making art professionally since 2018 after a long hiatus on art making all together. Since then, she has created murals in Lake City, South Park and her digital illustration work can be seen on traffic boxes throughout King County. She has done illustration work for Seattle Public Library’s Summer of Learning “Free to Read” and WSCADV (Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence) booklet. In addition, her paintings have been shown at the Tacoma Art Museum and has done art making workshops with community for Alimentando Al Pueblo and Washmasks. She is currently on the public artist roster for both Seattle and Tacoma. Through the themes in her work, she aims to create art that serves as catalysts for dialogue. This work explores social justice issues, her chicana identity and the intertwining of imagery through digital pixels and brush strokes. She firmly believes art should be accessible to all and continues this belief through her work as a teaching artist. Whether it’s painting out in the world or community building in a classroom, she continues to be an example of this resilience and growth and shows up authentically as herself in whatever space she is in.
