Charlene Finn is a Washington native, born and raised in Ellensburg. She spent much of her childhood on family fruit ranches in Buena, Zilla, and Wapato, WA. Her experience as a harvest worker in the 1970s brought her into contact with Chicano leader and social activist Caesar Chaves in Delano, CA experience in her first novel manuscript Uneven Ground, set in Yakima’s Lower Valley. Finn has a B.S. in Nursing and worked as a nurse for years. She received an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. Her work has recently appeared in Ellipsis, and her prose is incorporated into a public art project she created with visual artist Pam Beyette at the Issaquah Public Library. Finn has received a scholarship to attend the Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia, and attended Hedgebrook as an artist-in-residence. Charlene lives in Seattle with her husband and two teenage children.
