About

Danielle Villegas emerged onto the Northwest arts scene in 2010 after a ten-year arts-hiatus (which included co-founding the Utilikilts Company and a stint at a fortune 100 company). She has an MFA from CalArts in Directing for Film and Theatre and cofounded eSe Teatro; a latino theatre collective consistently producing work as a part of ACT’s Central Heating Lab. She has written, directed and performed multiple pieces at On-the-Boards, Stone Soup and for Pacific Playwrights. Her work often explores historical and cultural facets of gender and identity. Her short film Dos Almas represents her first and long awaited venture as filmmaker.

Danielle received a 2012 GAP for her short narrative film, Dos Almas, which addresses queer, indigenous and religious identity and also introduces a woman “Two-Spirit” character. In order to complete the project, she will utilize the funding to finish the sound design, color correct the picture, construct titles, and generate a final print. After completion, Danielle hopes to distribute the film to film festivals world wide.
