About

David Chatt is a pioneer, sculptor, inventor, and a maker of curiosities. A self-taught artist, Chatt is considered a master of his material. A former Penland Resident Artist, Chatt’s work is in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass, New York’s Museum of Art and Design, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Tacoma Arts Museum, and the Racine Art Museum among others. In 2020 Chatt received the highest award in the Ireland’s International Glass Biennale and in 2020 Chatt’s Love, Dad was acquired by the Smithsonian Museum of American Craft’s, Renwick Gallery. David works by hand, sewing tiny glass beads one to the next. Chatt is the grateful two-time recipient of the Artist Trust Fellowship Award.
