David Nixon

David Nixon received 2010 GAP Award funding to pay for two crucial pieces of equipment needed for the animation/video parts of a multidisciplinary performance piece incorporating live and recorded music, stop-motion animation, video, theater, and dance. Center Cut Ham Dinner Night Slide Show is set at a nursing home. A strange and marginally incompetent man has been hired to entertain the residents with a comforting slideshow while they eat, snore, and occasionally drop dead. As the “slideshow” progresses, it begins to take on a life of its own, morphing into a surreal visual odyssey. This project marks an important point in David’s career as it will be the first time that he has attempted a full-length solo show.
