About

Debora Lascelles is originally from the small town of Poulsbo, Washington. She graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles with a BFA in film production. While at USC, Debora was selected by the faculty as one of only four students to direct a thesis project, and then chosen again as a writer – both highly coveted positions in the film program. After graduating with honors, Debora honed her skills as a filmmaker by writing and directing her own projects. Her short films have been selected to play at film festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including the Champs-Élysées Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, and Columbia Gorge International Film Festival. Coffee for Hope will be her first feature-length documentary. Debora’s goal as a filmmaker is to use the power of storytelling to inspire and compel social change on the issues that have shaped her life.

Debora received 2018 GAP Award funding for Coffee for Hope. She will purchase necessary film equipment that will help her capture all the developing storylines and important moments of the six youth she is following in her first feature documentary.
