About

Saba is a Palestinian-Lebanese American artist, born and raised in Seattle, WA. Her work builds off a three-year research project where she documented and archived over 250 motifs from her family’s practice of Tatreez—a Palestinian embroidery tradition.

Using this design heirloom in her own practice, she references and interprets the symbolic nature of Tatreez in her audacious, supersized sculptures and fiberworks. She works auto-biographically, and explores themes of the archival and conceptual, the traditional and modern, and of yielding and claiming. Saba received a BA and Postbac in Painting & Drawing from the University of Washington and School of the Art Institute of Chicago, respectively.
