About
Ellaina Lewis is a classical singer who has studied since the age of 17 in Virginia, Iowa, and finally in Washington state. She regularly performs at the Seattle Opera, where she has taken on roles such as Girlfriend II in Blue and Strawberry Woman in Porgy and Bess. She has also performed as a soloist with Tacoma Opera, Seattle Choral Company, Everett Symphony, and Harmonia Orchestra and Chorus. Her repertoire includes roles like Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, Amina in Bellini’s La Sonnambula, Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, and Treemonisha in Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha. Her concert engagements feature classical repertoire ranging from Haydn’s Creation to Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5. Among her premiere performances are the title role in Garrett Fisher’s Sally Hemings, Huntley Beyer’s World out of Balance, and Simona in Night Flight, an operatic adaptation of the Saint-Exupéry novel.
