About

Elliat Graney-Saucke is a media artist, cultural researcher, documentarian, network enthusiast, festival director, curator, heritage innovator and storyteller. Beginning filmmaking at age 14 through the Evergreen State College, Elliat went on to create a body of self-taught and DIY rooted work, including over twenty shorts and now her second and third feature films. After living in Berlin, Germany from 2009-2015, where she completed her first feature documentary Travel Queeries about radical queer culture in Europe, Elliat returned to Seattle. In production since 2008, Elliat is currently completing her second feature documentary Boys on the Inside, about ‘boy’ identity in women’s prison in Washington State (in partnership with Pat Graney Company’s Keeping the Faith/The Prison Project). In 2016, Elliat and long-time friend and collaborator Celeste Chan began work on Art Heart: Children of Riot Grrrl and Beyond, a feature mixed media narrative documentary about friendship, feminism and coming of age in riot grrrl and queercore culture in the Pacific Northwest. Elliat is currently on the steering committee for S.A.L.T. (Seattle Arts Leadership Team), Seattle Documentary Association and Next Generation National Arts Network, as well as being a satellite partner on the international conference Innovate Heritage: Conversations between Arts and Heritage.

In 2016, Elliat received a Fellowship to attend an arts residency at Millay Colony for the Arts.
