About

Flynn Bickley graduated from Central Washington University with degrees in Fine Art/Sculpture and Spanish language in 2001. Flynn began making folk dolls as gifts and as a way to take a break from the demands of academic art making. Since 2005 he has developed the medium into a fine art practice and has shown his dolls around Seattle and in Port Townsend. Flynn was recently selected for the Susanna Oroyen Memorial Scholarship from The National Institute of American Doll Artists.

Flynn received 2015 GAP funding to assist with travel and research of Greer Lankton’s permanent installation at The Mattress Factory, in Pittsburgh. Accessing Greer Lankton’s work and archives in person will provide Flynn with a unique opportunity to study her doll-making techniques, learn more about her life and inform Flynn’s own current body of work, technically and conceptually.

Information included above was provided by artist at the time of application.
