Learn About Grants for Artist Projects

About

Fred Holcomb received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Washington, and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  He has exhibited his paintings frequently in the Northwest and is represented by Linda Hodges Gallery in Seattle and Butters Gallery in Portland, OR.

Fred received 2015 GAP funding for expenses related to the production of his upcoming “Spinal C(h)ord” project, a series of paintings that are intended to be conceptually linked by what can be conceived of as the “spinal chord” of Washington: Interstate 90. Through the series Fred hopes to discover insights into aspects of the perception of “connectiveness” of this east to west cord and simultaneously the chords it plays for travelers, inhabitants, and artists.
