About

Geísa Dutra is a Brazilian-born pianist and one of the foremost interpreters of Latin American and Spanish Piano repertoire. The year 2013 was marked by recitals at the Meydenbauer Center in Washington, at the Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro and at the opening concert at the International Piano Festival in Vitoria, Brazil. Previous recordings include: Brazilian and Spanish Piano Works;Chopin, Preludes; El Ultimo Tango – Six Tangos by Astor Piazzolla and The Spanish Piano.

Geisa received a 2013 GAP to offset expenses related to the production and recording of a CD covering 150 years of the piano in Brazil, from 1863 to 2013, with compositions by many wonderful Brazilian composers yet unknown by the majority of American audiences. The CD will also include the Seattle premiere performance of the Sonata nr.3 by Claudio Santoro (1919-1989).
