About
Glenn Tramantano is a mixed-media artist and educator. His witty work deals with issues of sexuality, nature and design. Glenn has shown work both locally and nationally at venues such as Angle Gallery, VerArt Gallery, The Burien Community Center, SOMarts Gallery, and The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum. He received his Masters of Fine Arts from Washington University in St. Louis and his Bachelors of Arts from University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Glenn’s artistic practice is centered around an investigation of contemporary issues of sexuality: how it is viewed, how it is politicized, and how its historical constructions inform both of these things. Glenn was awarded a 2011 GAP to defray the cost of materials for a body of work to be exhibited in two solo shows throughout Seattle. He is new to the Seattle area, and these gallery shows provided him with his first opportunity to show a body of work and to introduce himself as an emerging artist in the city. Gallery4Culture hosted Tramantano’s Surrender Dorothy, a series of mixed media drawings and sculptural objects that re-imagine the Land of Oz through the lens of a historical moment of miscommunication and confusion in the US military, in June of 2012.
Glenn is the recipient of a 2012 CityArtist Project award from Seattle’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
