About
Gregory Glynn received 2007 GAP Award funding to cover equipment rental in order to produce 6-10 new works. Working with native, locally downed trees and branches, Gregory creates large-scale outdoor sculptures that stand up to 20 feet tall. Most of the work is completed by hand using chainsaws, axes, and wedges. His work is intended to “explore the inner potency in trees and reflect the simultaneous strengths and vulnerabilities existing in nature.” The rental of a portable sawmill will allow the artist to quickly make fine cuts through the length of trees that would otherwise be impossible to achieve by hand. The finished works will be installed in outdoor sculpture parks in Washington State.
