About

H.R. Emi is a visual fine artist that specializes in painting, drawing, photography, and ceramics. Born in Central Eastern Washington, Emi is a first-generation Mexican-American. She has obtained a BFA in Studio Art from Central Washington University. Making Emi the first in her family to graduate from university. Her work has been shown in Yakima, Ellensburg, Tieton, and Seattle.

As an artist, Emi often uses various mediums to depict personal moments. Each medium allows her to convey moments in different ways. Emi’s work blends in elements of realism and iconography to create an interactive narrative. This artistic narrative is influenced by the duality of her American and Mexican culture. Themes of identity, memory, and language are often seen throughout her work. Emi creates art with the intention to capture a disruption of emotion, a snapshot of moments that tell a portion of a story.
