About
James is a retired animator and illustrator living near Sequim, Washington, where at his community theater he has volunteered his services in poster design, artwork for props and sets, and acting. His involvement in animation began in junior high when he experimented with stop motion and hand drawn animation using an 8mm movie camera. After high school he studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and then served in the Army, but his fascination and attraction to the medium of animation never wavered. Upon moving to Portland, Oregon, James joined an animation club where he partnered with other enthusiasts and began a career animating television commercials. Eventually he worked as a 2D animator in video games, retiring just as computer generated animation began to supplant the hand-drawn technique that he loves. Now he dedicates time each day to work on an intensive personal project, his animated film called Roscoe’s Lament.
