About
Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues first met in a fateful “meet cute” at Petosa Accordions in Seattle, where a shared love of the accordion and Brazilian music sparked both their creative partnership and, eventually, their marriage. That moment marked the beginning of Creosote, their dynamic accordion duo. For over eight years, they have blended their backgrounds in Brazilian, latin, jazz, tango, French musette, and other genres to create fresh arrangements and original music for the accordion.
Their performances have taken them from a quiet beach in Brazil to the Trophée Mondial in Portugal, and in 2023 they were featured on the television show Sanfonas do Brasil with Rodolpho Forte. Together, they also run the Emerald City Accordion School, offering online and in-person lessons, group classes, and annual accordion camps.
Jamie has been playing the accordion since the age of four and earned her music performance degree from the University of Denver and Cornish College of the Arts. Gabe holds degrees in music therapy and jazz piano from Arizona State University. In addition to Creosote, they co-lead Foleada, Seattle’s premier forró sextet.
Their first album, Creosote, is available now on Spotify. In January 2025, Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues traveled to Brazil—while Jamie was six months pregnant—to record “Lua de Bebê” (babymoon), their second full-length album featuring collaborations with longtime musician friends and diverse regional styles. Recorded in Recife, Rio de Janeiro, and Porto Alegre, the album blends original compositions with forró, choro, milonga, samba, and baião, all reimagined through the duo’s distinctive accordion voice. To be released early 2026.
