Jill Mayberg’s (Vancouver) work and ideas have evolved over the years from a confluence of traditions such as primitive folk art, expressionism, and abstract modernism, which is expressed in her colorful and eclectic paintings. Her creative process includes laying down various mixed media and other found objects on stretched canvas or paper, and then laying down plaster before painting or drawing on top of them. She then adds and removes layers for a textured, dimensional aged look. Her style of painting is self taught. Working full time as an artist, her paintings have been exhibited in galleries, museum shops and juried art festivals across the country.
