About

Jose Arrugama  is a self-taught engineer, producer, and rapper originally from Houston, TX. Inspired by Cumbia Kings, at age 14 he scraped together enough money to buy a used MacBook and start making beats. Lyrics became an outlet for his emotions as he dealt with the poverty, addiction, and violence surrounding him.

Barely a year after moving to Washington, CUT featured him and his song “Styrafoam” in a video. His musical style is rugged, dark, and ethereal. Current inspirations include Smino, Monte Booker, The Weeknd, and DJ Screw. His collaborators have included Savage Realm, Deante’ Hitchcock, and Tahj Neely.
