About

Julia Freeman graduated from the University of Washington in 2007 with an MFA in Fibers. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, her work is a continuous blend of printmaking, collaging, painting and drawing. Her experience with textiles and fibers heavily influences her process and material choices. She has exhibited at Foster/White Gallery, SOIL Art Gallery, Gallery 4Culture, Clemson University, Kirkland Arts Center, and at the Art Factory in Seoul, South Korea. She was nominated for the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Biennial Competition Award in 2007 and 2009 and was a finalist in the Miami University Young Painters Competitions.

Julia received 2014 GAP funding to purchase a high-quality color ink jet printer. She uses many different kinds of materials and techniques to create large collages on wood panels, including photographs. An ink jet printer will allow her to print photos without going through a print shop.
