About

Kate Lebo’s first collection of essays, THE BOOK OF DIFFICULT FRUIT (FSG 2021), won the 2022 Washington State Book Award. Previous books include the recently re-released cookbook PIE SCHOOL (Sasquatch Books 2014, 2023), the poetry chapbook SEVEN PRAYERS TO CATHY MCMORRIS RODGERS (Entre Rios Books 2018), and the anthology PIE & WHISKEY (Sasquatch Books 2017), co-edited with Samuel Ligon. Her essays and poems have appeared in Best American Essays, Orion, Harper’s Magazine, Cake Zine, the Inlander, Crazyhorse, and elsewhere. She grew up in Vancouver, Washington, was educated at Western Washington University and the University of Washington, and now lives in Spokane, where she is an apprentice cheesemaker to Lora Lea Misterly of Quillisascut Farm.
