About

Katherine Lewis (Mount Vernon) is an award-winning willow basket maker. She and her husband, Steve Lospalluto, grow selected varieties of basketry willow which are cut annually, dried, and sorted to weave beautiful functional baskets for home, business and garden. Lewis shows and sells her work at many regional and national museums, shows and festivals as well as at her farmstand in Mount Vernon.

Katherine will use 2011 GAP funding to support her study with David Drew, a master basketmaker from England, now living and working in the Loire Valley in France. His dedication to the craft of willow basketmaking is acknowledged throughout Europe and beyond.

Katherine also serves as an Artist Trust Ambassador.
