About

Kayla Blau (she/her) is a queer writer and facilitator based in Seattle. Her work has been featured in the South Seattle Emerald, Real Change, Crosscut, and The Seventh Wave, and her poetry and personal essays are included in anthologies such as Emerald Reflections, Writing for Peace: Resistance Issue, and Wanderlust. She is currently working on a hybrid memoir detailing how the colonization of Palestine disparately impacted her Jewish ancestors and the Palestinian ancestors of her childhood best friend while unraveling Zionist and Islamophobic propaganda. She is a recipient of fellowships and residencies from 4Culture, Hedgebrook, UW Bonderman, and Seattle Public Library. She is a Teaching Artist with Golf Pencil Group, facilitating writing classes with women surviving incarceration, and consults with various non-profits across the Pacific Northwest. She has a hole-in-the-wall restaurant recommendation for you.
