About

Keri Healey received 2010 GAP Award funding to cover artist fees associated with the development of a new play titled Torso that was inspired by a real-life account of a murder that happened in Southern Minnesota. In 2013, Torso won the M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award. What might be just another bizarre story about violence, revenge, and broken family relations in America actually hit a lot closer to home for Keri. One of the alleged conspirators in the murder (and sister to the victim), was her high school friend. Keri’s intent was not to write a formulaic criminal procedural but a fictional story inspired by an act of familial violence.
