About

Kisha Lewellyn Schlegel received her MA degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana and an MFA from Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program. She has published essays in Conjunctions, Iowa Review, Drunken Boat and Gulf Coast. She was recently honored with a 2016 Pushcart Prize nomination and was a recipient of the Richard J. Margolis Award as well as an Iowa Arts Grant. Kisha also wrote a series of essays that won nonfiction awards from Dislocate and Fugue. Currently Kisha teaches creative writing at Whitman College.

Kisha received 2015 GAP funding to support the revision of her 200-page essay collection “Fear Icons.” This will be Kisha’s first book publication after a decade of publishing essays in literary journals. She will begin submitting her book to interested publishers in the spring of 2016.
