About

Kristin Hapke has produced work in Seattle, New York City, Portland, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Columbus, Vancouver, Nanaimo and Victoria, Canada.  In addition, she has received international recognition for her collaborations with media artist Marlon Barrios in The Netherlands, Germany and Poland. Hapke was awarded a full scholarship to Jacob Pillow’s Choreographer’s Lab, nominated for the ACDFA/Dance Magazine Award and received grants through Ohio State University. She has danced for Scott/Powell Performance, Maureen Whiting Company, Crispin Spaeth, Aiko Kinoshita, Jurg Koch and in works by Bebe Miller and Zvi Gottheiner. Hapke received her MFA in Dance from OSU, her BA from University of Oregon and her Laban Certification from Integrated Movement Studies.

Kristin received a 2013 GAP for productions costs, performer’s pay, and studio rental for rehearsals for the production of an evening length performance of her current improvisational dance project, Terrain. This project is inspired by flocks of animals: herds of deer, swarms of bees, consortiums of crabs. In addition to her six dancers, the project will also employ an improvisational musician to play live during performances.
