About

Leah Hampton is an Appalachian writer based in Pullman, WA. Her debut collection, F*ckface and Other Stories, was released by Henry Holt/MacMillan and was named one of the best books of 2020 by The Paris Review, the New York Public Library, and Slate. A graduate of the Michener Center for Writers, she has been awarded multiple prizes and fellowships and held residencies at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Bucknell University’s Stadler Center for Poetry, Hedgebrook, Jentel, and elsewhere. Her work has appeared in Ecotone, LitHub, McSweeney’s Quarterly, Salon, Gravy Quarterly, Callaloo, Guernica, Electric Literature, storySouth, Appalachian Review, North Carolina Literary Review, and elsewhere. She is currently an assistant professor of creative writing at the University of Idaho, where she teaches in their MFA program. She is currently at work on her second collection of short stories and a novel, and when not writing or teaching, she spends her time exploring the Palouse.
