About

Marika Francisco is a Los Angeles–born writer based in Seattle for 25 years. Her work defamiliarizes narratives of the natural world, built environments, and human intervention, exploring collective anxiety and grief amid climate crisis, technological saturation, and resistance to change. Often inhabiting a space of mirroring and duality, her poems trace the porous boundary between self and other, the physical and the digital, revealing how our ecosystems and inner worlds reflect and corrupt one another. She holds an MFA from the University of Washington, and her poems appear in Antiphony, Santa Clara Review, the tiny, Fence, Quarterly West, and elsewhere. Her debut collection, Insects of the Data Lake, is forthcoming from Inverted Syntax in 2026–27.
