About
Active as a vocalist, composer, and cultural producer, Mónica Ramos is the founder, director, and lead vocalist of Monamor, an acoustic Latin ensemble based in Seattle. Her work centers Latin American popular music, with a focus on boleros, son cubano, cumbia, and cha-cha-chá, bringing these traditions to audiences across the Pacific Northwest.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Mónica graduated from Universidad del Bosque in 2007 with a degree in Music, specializing in Classical Singing and Instrumental Teaching. After moving to Seattle, she shifted her focus to Latin American popular music and founded Monamor as a vehicle for cultural exchange and community connection.
Her performance highlights include Benaroya Hall with Encanto Arts (2019), and appearances as vocalist and vocal director at the Royal Room and Century Ballroom. She has also performed internationally in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
In 2026, Mónica produced Latin Music Across Cultures, a series of four free outdoor concerts in Seattle parks funded by the City of Seattle’s Arts in Parks program, featuring guest artists Vallenato Panamericano, Arturo Rodriguez and the Rhythm Ambassadors, Kiki Valera y su Son Cubano, and Saboco Dance Company. Monamor has received grants from 4Culture and the City of Seattle, and in 2025 recorded five original songs professionally with 4Culture support.
Mónica currently teaches private voice lessons in Bellevue and continues to develop Monamor as a platform for sharing Latin American musical heritage with diverse communities in the Pacific Northwest.
