About

Nathan DiPietro’s egg tempera paintings explore regional landscapes and the current land management and development which effect them. His most recent paintings were developed from travels along the North Beach area of the Washington coast to investigate the new urbanist town of Seabrook. Nathan DiPietro received his BFA in painting from Central Washington University in 2003. His work has appeared in Art Ltd and Art in America. He is represented locally by Woodside/Braseth Gallery.

Nathan will use 2011 GAP funding for traveling to various time-sensitive locations throughout Washington State, for the purpose of collecting reference material and gaining inspiration for a new painting series. Over seven days he will travel the 450-mile loop around the Olympic Pennisula to visit the Elwha River dams, which are scheduled to be removed in late 2011, and revisit Seabrook, WA, to continue his observation of this town’s development. Additionally, he will be visiting the Kittitas Valley to view continuing wind farm construction, and also stream rehabilitation projects throughout King County.
