About

Patrick Dixon, a retired educator and commercial fisherman, gillnetted for sockeye salmon on Cook Inlet, Alaska from 1977 to 1997. He is the editor of Anchored in Deep Water: The FisherPoets Anthology. A freelance writer and photographer, he has been published in the Cirque Literary Journal, Oberon Poetry magazine, Oregon Coast, National Fisherman, The Smithsonian, Pacific Fishing and others. He has two published chapbooks: Fat City and Swimming with Fish and Other Animals. He is a member of the organizing committee of the FisherPoets Gathering, manages its websites and has read at the annual event for 17 years.

Patrick received a 2014 GAP for the time required to edit and design the final book for Anchored in Deep Water: The FisherPoets Anthology and the labor involved to distribute pre-orders via Kickstarter. Anchored in Deep Water is a seven-book set of chapbook-sized thematic volumes dealing with the issues inherent in the commercial fishing business. The books include the work of 40 writers.
