About

Qin Tan was born in Beijing, China and currently lives in Tacoma, Washington. She received her Bachelors of Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she majored in general fine arts. She practices art through various mediums such as painting, photography and electronic media. Her art is characteristic in its abstract, rhythmic images and movements that often exhibit a combination of delicacy and intensity. She has been selected to exhibit by venues internationally in countries including the United States, Greece, China, and Italy.

Qin received GAP 2016 funding for her project Glitch & Ambience, which intend to celebrate and investigate the accents, inflections, and cadences found within sound performances by translating them into a visual format depicted by rhythm and movement.
