Rick Araluce

Rick Araluce created a miniature constructed artwork that was exhibited in New York’s esteemed Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) during the Summer of 2011 as part of an exhibition entitled Otherworldly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities.  He was the recipient of a 2008 Pollack-Krasner Foundation award, and was featured in CityArts Magazine in 2013.

Rick received 2011 GAP Award funding for material and lighting costs, and audio and automation hardware essential in making his piece, The Longest Hours, a compelling, living, breathing work of art.

Additionally, he received 2008 GAP Award funding to document his installations in downtown Seattle during the summer of 2008. The installations did not disturb or damage their respective sites. They were simple, miniature objects found in daily life, such as a piece of furniture. However they were placed, nearly hidden, across downtown as a surprise for those who found them. This endeavor embodied two interests by blending miniatures with a full scale installation.
