Ricky Coates

Ricky Coates received his B.F.A. in acting and directing from the University of Arizona. He has performed with Washington Ensemble Theatre, Book-It Repertory Theatre and Wooden O. He is an artistic member of Pony World Ensemble and “theater simple.” Ricky has moved toward ensemble-generation with an emphasis on original story and has been creating touring work, including his award-winning solo show “The Death of Brian: A Zombie Odyssey.”

Ricky received 2015 GAP funding for the building and touring of his sequel “Death of Brian 3.” The show questions technological ethics by envisioning a near-future where military drones patrol our cities, and all internet privacy is blatantly policed. The funds will assist with festival fees and to purchas a car rack carrier that will allow him to tour with all the necessary equipment for the full theatrical trilogy. All installments of “The Death of Brian” uniquely combine radio drama, physical theater, and puppetry.
