About

Roldy Aguero Ablao is an artist and educator. Originally from the island of Guam, he graduated from the University of Washington in 2006 and found himself working at a local museum shortly after. He began exploring and experimenting with visual art and performance as a form of heritage expression and preservation. Ablao is currently focusing on collaborative photographic experiences as a way to document and transform the stories and experiences of underrepresented and marginalized communities here in the Pacific Northwest.

Roldy received 2015 GAP funding to purchase a Westcott 5500 Ice Light Wrap-Around Handheld Dimmable LED Light which will help with “Island Spirits,” a collaborative photographic experience creating portraits through an open and dialogic format.
