About

Rulon Brown is a musician and visual artist who creates for film, stage, gallery, and adaptive media. His recent work includes a rock-improv band CD; a solo album made via laptop while traveling North and Central America; an art installation and jewelry designs inspired by the American dream, a limited-edition art puzzle with each piece hiding original music and film, a documentary film about the cultural boundaries of Mormon musical worship, a CD of world-rhythm improv to 19th Century Christian hymns, and a U.S. State Department sponsored artist residency at a cultural institute in Granada, Nicaragua.

Rulon received 2015 GAP funding to expand his installation “Phono Solo (working Title)” allowing it to work across a locally-synchronized cell phone network. Funding will pay the discounted artist fee for him to create and perform the installation.
