About

Sally Schuh is influenced by Minimalism and Conceptualism. She makes works on paper using text as image to investigate visual interpretations of written and spoken language that reveal differences between reading and looking, and writing and speaking.

Sally’s work has been exhibited at G. Gibson Gallery, Greg Kucera Gallery, the University of Puget Sound and Kala Art Institute; and in international exhibitions in Russia, China, and Mexico. She has received numerous grants including the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, 4Culture, and Artist Trust and has been awarded residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Pratt Fine Arts, the Centrum Foundation and Jentel Artist Residency. She has been a board member of Seattle Print Arts since 2004 and has served as president and vice president of the organization. Sally Schuh has a sculpture degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a degree in printmaking from the University of Washington Seattle.

Sally received a 2005 GAP to partially fund slide documentation and application fees for upcoming grant applications. “I use photography and printmaking to work with various forms of collection and documentation,” says Schuh. “My work centers on ordering and recombining visual fragments.” Funds will allow Schuh to update the documentation of her work every four months and thereby set a goal of submitting four grant applications monthly.

Sally also received a 2000 GAP.
