About
Tall Firs Cinema is helmed by The Salcedos: a filmmaking partnership based in the Pacific Northwest. Sarah and Vasant have degrees in English Literature and Cinema Studies from the University of Washington and run Tall Firs Productions (formerly Samudre Media), a media company that provides affordable creative services for arts-based non-profits and artists. They have been writing and filming together for the past decade.
Sarah & Vasant received 2016 GAP funding to help Tall Firs Cinema complete a Pacific Northwest-based and focused documentary, Promised Land. The film follows two Northwest tribes, the Chinook and Duwamish of Washington State, and chronicles not only their histories, but discusses why federal acknowledgment is important, not only on a local, but on a national and global scale as well.
