About

Sarah Salcedo is an award-winning filmmaker, author, and illustrator. She was the Spring 2022 Writer-in-Residence for Town Hall Seattle and attended both the 2022 Tin House Winter and Summer Workshops for her short fiction.

She works alongside her partner and collaborator, Vasant Salcedo, at Tall Firs Cinema. Their feature documentary, Promised Land, debuted in select theaters and won awards at film festivals fall 2016. Their feature screenplay, Fire Signs, was a Selected Project for Stowe Story Labs’ 2023 Writers’ Retreat in California. Together they founded their studio, Tall Firs Cinema, as well as Understory Arts, a nonprofit that focuses on training and supporting nonfiction filmmaking through an artist-led coalition.
