About
Sharon Glenn, Cowboy Poet, was born to a cowboy father and raised in ranch life, where work and recreation involved horses and cattle. She was surrounded by people who sang and recited about the Western life they lived, so writing cowboy poetry came naturally. She has appeared publicly since 1990 all over the Northwest, including Snake River Cowboy Poetry Gatherings, Cowboy Poets of Idaho gatherings, stints and summer concerts for the Western Folklife Center in Nevada and many others. Husband George Thomsen often plays behind her recitations. They still tend cattle of nearby ranches and spend summers in the high range.
As part of her Fellowship’s Meet the Artist requirements, Sharon talked with students at Big Picture Middle School in Burien about poetry and the cowboy life. Read more about Sharon’s Meet the Artist event.
