About
Sofya Belinskaya is a Ukrainian-American visual artist. Her paintings and drawings are narratively driven works on paper that seek the line between presence and absence. Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, her practice explores the fragmented nature of memory and our relationships to place.
Sofya Belinskaya received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Tufts University, Boston in 2011. Her work has been exhibited nationally and regionally, including solo shows at Gallery 4Culture, Seattle, Linda Hodges Gallery, Seattle, and SOIL Artist-Run Gallery, Seattle where she has been a member since 2023. She is the recipient of the 2022 4Culture Projects Grant for Artists, and she was a 2024 Neddy Artist Award Painting finalist. She was an artist-residence at AqTushetii in Omalo, Georgia 2024, and Mineral School in Mineral, WA in 2025. Sofya is a teaching artist in painting and drawing, and she has taught locally at Pratt Fine Arts Center, Gage Academy of Art, Meta Open Arts since 2015.
