About

Sylwia Tur is an artist and linguist whose work transcends traditional boundaries. She connects language and art, turning words and phrases into sculptures. Her latest project involves a constructed sculptural alphabet, where each letter corresponds to a three-dimensional porcelain object. Each sculpture spells out a word or phrase, creating a unique fusion of language and visual form. By allowing language to speak through tangible forms, her intention is to empower others to embrace their authentic voices. Born and raised in Poland, Sylwia continued her studies in linguistics after moving to the United States. Her passion for art eventually led her to pursue artmaking alongside her linguistic interests. Sylwia’s work has been exhibited nationally, most recently at Bellevue Arts Museum, Linda Hodges Gallery, and Das Schaufenster. Her public art projects have been shown at Bumbershoot Arts and Music Festival, Amazon Campus, Carkeek Park, and Shilshole Bay Waterfront. She has participated in several immersive art experiences, most recently at the Seattle City of the Future exhibit. Tur is a recipient of the Individual Artist Grant from 4Culture, the Artist Trust GAP Grant, and the Regional Exhibition Award from the National Council of Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). Her artwork is in private and public collections around the world.
